Hello! Long time no blog. I'm the worst aren't I? but in my defense I TOTALLY thought I did my RWC Final post but I didn't...anyway I'm hoping to get that up tomorrow, better late than never right? WHATEVER you're just here for the pictures anyway ;)And HOPEFULLY I'll get my 3rd annual Christmas post up as well.

I apologize for the lack of posts as previously mentioned there's a lot going on in my life and blogging has fallen by the wayside but I do appreciate the love and support you have all shown me, I have missed this blog and all of you as well, and I pray that 2012 will bring me less problems and more time for blogging!

See you on the flip side

This is It. Don't get Scared Now.

We have our final ladies and gentlemen! This is what we've been working up to. I'm really, really excited. A new champion will be crowned and another team's dream will be denied for another 4 years. This is why I love watching Remember the Titans over and over again. The elation. The heartbreak. The beer split on your carpet. Not much can compare to a sports final.

For our Bronze Final we have Australia vs Wales. Australia's sloppy game play broke like water against New Zealand (I'm making a reference here 10 points if you get it) so it comes to no surprise that they're not in the final. Still seething from South Africa's loss I'm throwing all my support behind Wales. They were unjustly denied a spot in the final, so let them take their frustrations out on the Wallabies.

The All Blacks is for lovers

For our World Cup Final we have France vs New Zealand and honestly it could go both ways, which I know is a total cop out but honestly I'm convinced that France has been holding back this whole time waiting for the most opportune time to unleash the best game they've ever played, and that could very well happen on Sunday. But on the other hand this is the All Blacks we're talking about, they have been exceptional this tournament, they're in their own backyard, the last time they won the World Cup they were playing at home, the stars are aligned, etc. etc. so who really knows. I don't know about you but I think watching this game will probably require the consumption of a lot of alcohol.

Semi-Finals, Its getting dangerous

We're at the semi-finals already. Can you believe it? I can't. It seems like just last week I stayed up late watching the opening ceremonies and the inaugural game between Tonga and New Zealand, oh how time flies.

With our Nothern Hemisphere match-up we have Wales vs France. Even though I thought Ireland would beat Wales I'm so happy that Wales has made it into the semis. They deserve to be here, and I am rooting for them 100%. Who will win? I actually have no clue and don't ask me to make a prediction because we all know how good I am at that.

The Southern Hemisphere match-up will be electric, no doubt, with Australia vs New Zealand, I mean how could this not be a good rugby match. Yes I'm still bitter about the Springboks losing to Australia so with that in mind and my fetish crush on Jerome Kaino's chin I'm rooting for the All Blacks. Although if Australia wants to win they cannot play the crap game they played against the bokks, I mean what the hell was that? The Kiwi's will not put up with that just sayin'

Update

I just wanted to let you know that my blog list of 'Relevant Sources' has been updated.

Firstly I have added Manpilez to the list, a group of lovely ladies who do actual reporting with healthy amounts of squeeing. Did I mention they often snag interviews with fan favourite players??? If you don't already read Manpilez you should, you really really should! These ladies know what they're talking about AND are totally awesome! Check them out already!

Secondly I've added Go Hard Or Go Home which is a new blog written by a long time reader of Death of a Trend, Maddie. She's an Irish rugby fan so its safe to say there will be plenty of entries on the boys from the Emerald Isle! Please visit her and send some love :D

Quarter Finals Baby!

We are one step closer to the championship game and according to the poll most of us are thinking the All Blacks will take it; home field advantage, the crowd on your side, the stars aligned, it all adds up, right? Well any sports fan worth their salt knows nothing is a sure thing! Things can change in an instant, like how Dan Carter is out with a groin injury or how my boyfriend Frans Steyn is out with a shoulder injury, who would have predicted that?

The All Blacks are the favourite to win but I'm not going all in just yet! Besides we still have the quarter finals to get through. Speaking of...

Ireland vs Wales
Apparently I've lost touch with my predictions (proven with the last 2 NHL playoffs) but I have a feeling Ireland's coming out of this one with the win. Sorry Welsh fans.

England vs France
This match-up can go either way, even though I feel like the scale is slightly tipped in favour for France. England is still feeling the sting from 2007 but will that be enough? We'll just have to wait and see

South Africa vs Australia
Defending World Champions versus the Tri-Nations Champions. I think its safe to say this is a must watch game no matter who you're backing. I don't want to jinx anything but I'm sure it comes to no surprise that I want Australia to loose, with Canada out my loyalty lies with the Springboks...I know the team everyone loves to hate. But honestly both teams are capable of defeating each other. This could be one of the best games of the tournament.

New Zealand vs Argentina
Wouldn't it be amazing if Argentina beat the All Blacks? I mean we have a pretty good idea of how this is going to turn out but dare to dream!

My track record of being right when it comes to who's going to win has not been the best lately but I keep on coming back to the same match-up in my mind, like whenever I think of the final I think of only two teams, and I've had this feeling from the very beginning and sadly no it does not include my boisterous Springboks. My ESPN is telling me its between a bird who shares its name with a fruit and an isle of emerald. How cryptic. I know. You'll be puzzling over this for hours but once you figure it out I'm sure many of you will agree with me.

Rugby Hockey Cross Over

If you follow on me on twitter then you know that I've been live tweeting select games from the World Cup. And twitter is great because you type in the first thing that comes to mind without any filter, awesome right? Well so far I've made two pop culture references, and two rugby-hockey crossover references, while watching the games, as you can tell I'm pretty pleased with myself.

Just a few days ago I realized there was another rugby-hockey crossover, that was staring me right in the face, I mean how could I miss this? Its so obvious! So obvious that its kind of embarrassing that I didn't notice it right away.

Francois Steyn is the blonde, South African, rugby, version of Sidney Crosby; and Sidney Crosby is the brunette, Canadian, hockey version of Francois Steyn!

I KNOW RIGHT?!

Naturally there are pictures where we can compare and contrast.

Also there are videos

Do you see it? Am I crazy or- wait! You know what I mean!

The questionable haircuts! The pouty lips! The awkward interviews! I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE WHO NOTICES THIS!!!!!!!!

or am I just projecting my fantasy of being the meat in a Frans-Sid sandwich? which, you know, is entirely possible.
